Thinking about purchasing one of these units as its a very nice enclosed solution. Have you folks managed to get WLED on it successfully? Anyone got photos of what it looks like with the case off? Is their headers or is soldering required?

What is the supported_features attribute of a light you have this working with? I suspect that this can't be yielded with one of the other controllers for the light integration.

[Question] Have you tried RF communications?

Hi Thom,

Love your work here. Have you tried using something like a Sonoff RF bridge to build your own WiFi gateway to replace the EPH one in order to get all the data without any requirement for an internet connection?

I'm researching heating systems and am finding it difficult to find a no internet connection based solution. Thought EPH came close but haven't seen anyone do it via RF yet so may have to break new ground.

Thanks, Ian.

 def capability_resources(self):             self._resource.add_mode(f"{cover.ATTR_POSITION}.custom", ["Custom"])             return self._resource.serialize_capability_resources() +        if self.instance == f"{light.DOMAIN}.{light.ATTR_EFFECT}":+            self._resource = AlexaModeResource(["Effect"], False)++            effect_list = self.entity.attributes.get(light.ATTR_EFFECT_LIST, 0)+            if effect_list:+                for effect in effect_list:+                    self._resource.add_mode(+                        f"{light.ATTR_EFFECT}.{effect}", [f"{effect}"]+                    )

This came to mind; we can base64 encode the effect name as the mode value during discovery.

Brilliant idea.

You said you had success with numbers in the friendly names; but in my experience I've had better user experience exposing the written name vs. the number. I'll leave that up to you.

I'd be happy enough to continue with the symbols in place and see what bug reports we get back (if any) and adjust from there. Given Alexa handled the numbers OK i'd imagine it has support for other symbols too.

Autoset MQTT topic/hostname based of friendly name

Autoset MQTT topic/hostname based of friendly name

Have you looked for this feature in other issues and in the docs?

Yes

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I have to manually set a friendly name and mqtt name, it would be nice if I just had to set one unique identifier.

Describe the solution you'd like

I think we could copy what home assistant does for generating entity IDs. They take the friendly names, lower case them and remove any spaces.

Sitting room light -> sitting_room_light Bedroom lamp -> bedroom_lamp

Describe alternatives you've considered

Unsure of alternatives, maybe some sort of device provisioning script that uses backlog commands to set all this up without touch Tasmota code.

Add light effect and profile support to Alexa

 def get_property(self, name):             ):                 return f"{cover.ATTR_POSITION}.{mode}" +        if self.instance == f"{light.DOMAIN}.effect":+            mode = self.entity.attributes.get(light.ATTR_EFFECT)

It would be: "Alexa, set effect on Tasmota to 0" or "Alexa, set effect on Tasmota to zero" both worked when tested and converted it back to "0" as the mode value.

It would be nice if Tasmota didn't use such undescriptive names but I don't think this is a HA problem. However.... it would be nice if we could do "Alexa set effect on Tasmota to <script name>" where script name is some arbitrary script that takes light tasmota and does some actions on it - this way we could create our own effects in HA or alias affects via scripts.

Same as another comment, different lights have different effects. Exposed via their “effects_list” attribute.

Interesting. I’ll retest this one again, it caused me some confusion initially - the Alexa simulator (forced en-US) worked fine but my Alexa devices (en-GB at the time, now en-US) did not.

Not all lights have those effects, Tasmota for example has 0 to 4. We could generate something here using the lights effects_list attribute

Add light effect and profile support to Alexa

Hi @ochlocracy fantastic question and one I struggled with myself.

Profiles in this scenario are way more dynamic than scripts or scenes. When I add my light, automatically I get profiles and can do “Alexa set profile on <device> to <profile>”. I don’t have to go create a specific scene or script for this light and the profile can be reused on other lights.

Comparing this to the scene approach, we’ve to manually create the scene, add lights to it and then call it. As a result we end up with scenes such as “relaxed living room” “relaxed kitchen” “relaxed bedroom” and so on, it’s a lot of config.

If the grouping is something that is wanted it can still be achieved with groups “Alexa set profile on <light-group> to <profile>”

Fix route53 support

This does not appear to be fixed, https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/commit/50c295eee71cda83c42820e7e2b8ffb56df05aa1#diff-4d929de130b59358dd27cea01a3cff10 introduces a workaround for it, however, the --dns-route53-credentials argument is still passed which is not valid.

I've copied the code and made my own repo to work around it for now, fix is available here https://github.com/imduffy15/hassio-addons/commit/2bade84490ae8cb9469c1b25e9a937789e787d23 or if you want it as a hass repo (don't rely on it long term) https://github.com/imduffy15/hassio-addons

PR opened arendst/Tasmota

Add manufactureURL to the hue description.xml endpoint

The netdisco library by HA looks for manufacture, modelNumber and manufactureURL for its auto discovery mechanism. https://github.com/home-assistant/netdisco/blob/master/netdisco/discoverables/philips_hue.py

Currently, tasmota doesn't return this, and as a result home assistant doesn't discover the emulator.

this commit adds a manufactureURL so discovery works

Schema for logger_default_t

Ended up parsing with the following:

from http.server import BaseHTTPRequestHandler
from http.client import HTTPResponse as BaseHTTPResponse
from io import BytesIO

class HTTPRequest(BaseHTTPRequestHandler):
    def __init__(self, request_text):
        self.rfile = BytesIO(request_text)
        self.raw_requestline = self.rfile.readline()
        self.error_code = self.error_message = None
        self.parse_request()

from http.client import HTTPResponse

class FakeSocket(object):
    def __init__(self, response_bytes):

    def makefile(self, *args, **kwargs):
        return self._file

def parse_response(response_bytes):

    resp.begin()
    return resp

with open('answ_mE8UWN.log', 'rb') as fp:
    header = fp.readline().decode().split(' ')
    request_size = int(header[0])
    response_size = int(header[1])
    req = HTTPRequest(fp.read(request_size))
    print(req.path)

Schema for logger_default_t

Hi,

Is there a schema available for the output created by a logger_default_t logger? I've looked at https://github.com/mamchits/phantom/blob/f344e5b51059e688d1508d16f5fdd053eef27559/phantom/io_benchmark/method_stream/logger_default.C#L31

which suggestions it should be

request_size response_size request_time interval_event err
request

response

However, i'm finding that the request_size isn't equal to the byte size of the request with utf-8 encoding, same with response.

Thanks, Ian.

PR opened lins05/slackbot

Add support for `bot_message` events without usernames

As per https://api.slack.com/events/message/bot_message a bot_message may not always contain a username. Username is only present should the username be overrided in the event request.

Currently when SlackBot receives a bot_message with no overriden username it exits not passing the event forward.

This changes updated the relevant code to pull the username from the bot_profile
