We've had community requests (e.g. https://twitter.com/DurrilWeller/status/1321071907794493440 ) to make it so you do not drift in the lobby view. If you choose to watch from lobby, it seems like you should stay in one position.
This would make it easier for people to watch from outside the room if camera mode is not enabled as well (event organizers might be busy and not remember to turn on camera mode, or they might not know it exists). Personally, I find that the lobby view tends to look great at first, but then will drift in such a way that the interior of the room is obscured by objects or the environment.

It would be neat if people could upload their own custom emojis without having to set up a full Hubs Cloud instance.

In the middle of the Dark Forrest is what looks like a bonfire of "!" icons. Please see attached screenshot.
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to the Dark Forrest Hubs scene
- Look towards the centre of the scene from any angle
Expected behavior
Not sure what to expect, but this looks odd.

When you want to remove someone from the room, the text copy is "Kick" which we've received a few reports that it's perhaps a bit harsh.
Perhaps we could change to "remove user" or something else which is more clear/less violent

Non-avatar-based indiciation when a user is speaking (e.g. pulsing orb)
Received a request from rem5forgood for "a more visual way to see who is talking, especially in groups of 4/5 and using different types of avatars, this can be easily lost, especially when the group doesn't know each other yet/the voices associated."
as we create more avatars with subtle mouth movements (or no mouth movements) this is increasingly necessary

Pinned objects move to the origin when visiting another room from the 'Visit Room' link
Description I went into the meetup room and added some objects (three gif files and a link to another room). I pinned them, then left the room. When I left the room to visit another room that was linked in the scene, the objects all moved to the origin (as reported by @emclaren, who stayed in the room after I left).
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to the meetup room
- Add objects and pin them
- Leave the room by way of clicking on another room link that has been shared in the room
Expected behavior The pinned objects stay in the same place

This came up on the Hubs Discussions forum so I'm recording it here for our records - https://github.com/mozilla/hubs/discussions/2982
Thank you for the positive feedback! If I could throw in my bit on this, a simple document stating how to rebuild the client on AWS would go a long way for me. Right now, this document is not enough - its a vital subject, I get to half way the cant go forward after the prerequisites section: https://hubs.mozilla.com/docs/hubs-cloud-custom-clients.html It would be nice to have a document stating the steps and the requirements. Deep link specific position/orientation in rooms
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I would like to be able to control where a person enters a room via a link. Could be a link in another room, or on a web page. I don't want to just control the entry point for all users, but be able to link to different ones.
The initial use case is for me to describe a room I've created in a blog post, and have multiple links into that room based on the thing I'm talking about in the post.
Describe the solution you'd like I want someone to enter a room at a certain position and orientation, at positions other than the normal spawn points.
Describe alternatives you've considered Two alternatives seem to be
- be able to link to waypoints. The problem here is that they must be pre-created in the scene
- be able to ask hubs for a deep link at any time, based on the current position/orientation of your avatar.
The second seems best for this use case: I would like to create a tour of an old room by placing text signs (type something, turn it into text, position and size it) and then locate myself appropriately, grab a link, and paste it into a blog.

Safari on iOS black screen in Hubs
Description This bug was flagged in this discussion https://github.com/mozilla/hubs/discussions/2946
On some iphones when you enter the room is just black, seems to happen on several different devices & in different rooms and scenes.
Copied from Discussion thread Graphics (selecting your avatar, then the contents of the room itself) refuse to load on my iPhone 8 Plus using Safari and running iOS 13.6.1. The UI loads, I get the happy "you've entered the room" sound, and my avatar shows up for others, but the viewport into the room is black (as was the small window where you select your avatar). Works perfectly fine on an iPad, Quest, desktop browser. I can load the cube in get.webgl.org so it isn't that. The only solution I could find was clearing web history and such. Did that to no avail. Anyone have an idea to save me from this sad nap?
Yes, it is pervasive and n the iPhone. The same room will load fine on an iPad. It’s strange!
Thanks @emclaren! I found a few folks reporting the same or similar issue on Discord before I posted but didn't come across a clear resolution. I've seen it work on everthing from an iPhone 6 with out of date iOS to an iPhone 11 and an iPad, so it must be me!

Hi @truedat101 - Hubs' servers are blocked when there are too many requests to youtube during a period of time. When it is blocked it is generally just for a few hours, after which point it will start working again.
Since our servers have become much busier, we've been seeing this occur more frequently. We've since begun advising against relying on youtube for mission critical content, we recommend hosting videos on the Hubs servers by uploading to your Hubs room or Spoke (there is a 128MB size limit for these videos) or on a self-hosting videos on a provider like Amazon S3.
When this occurs you should see an error message that says "Unable to load video" not the broken link image (as pictured above). Are you getting a broken link pictures?

Camera view in Lobby still shows avatars hidden by the camera person
Description The accessibility meetup that runs events in Hubs has mentioned a frequently occurring issue.
For their meetup they have a presentation and captions. They broadcast this view to the lobby so it can be watched by other folks & broadcast to a live stream.
If someone blocks the cameraperson's view, the cameraperson can hide them from their own view, but they will still be visible to people watching from the lobby.
Beyond this particular case, this could also be a severe issue for any large events that have a troll enter the space.
Expected behavior I would expect people that is hidden from a camera person's view would also be hidden from the view of the folks in the lobby.

Hold Focus/Inspect State on Objects
I receive a lot of feedback from the community that folks would like to be able to zoom in on a video/object/presentation in the room, and then have it stay zoomed in without having to hold F, right click, or keep mouse hovering in the object list.
For example, an email from a Hubs event organizer: I think it would be great if users had the option to permanently enlarge the video viewer on the screen if participants need. i.e. the behaviour of the right mouse button to make a video object full screen should be able to be done by just clicking to toggle rather than holding the right mouse button which is then cancelled when mouse button released. Or perhaps this is something that could be configured in the room/account preferences or something? I'm thinking this in case e.g. the user isn't in a great spot in the room or if avatars are in the user's line of vision and they want an unobstructed viewing experience while the concert is live without needing to leave the hubs platform to view on twitch.

Enable toggling scene audio from within a room's settings
At virtu-all hands a number of presentations/demos took place in the WebXR hall. The ambient room audio that is built into the scene was playing.
One of the presentations included a video with sound, but people in the audience were sharing that they were having trouble hearing the presentation and video over the ambient audio. The presenter was not able to go fix the scene mid-presentation.
It would be nice if moderators could disable the scene audio directly from within the rooms' settings.
I've seen similar situations take place with other community members as well.

Improve behaviour when multiple people load into a single spawn point
I've noticed it can be very stressful for new users if there is only one spawn point set in the room and several people enter at once. Everyone loads in the same place, and if people don't move right away it can cause visitors to feel like people are breathing in their ears, talking very loudly, and are missing from the space (they can hear each other, but not see each other).
This came up with one of the rooms at virtu-all hands and was mentioned as an issue to me by many people. I've also seen this happen at meetups.
It would be nice if a spawn point already had someone in it, that perhaps there would be some automatic jitter for the next people joining so they would load right beside the other user.
If I recall correctly, you can set a spawn point to be occupiable, however, when this is applied additional users will load at a different part of the scene (the origin, I believe), which is not the desired or expected behaviour.

more control over lobby view, perhaps using Waypoints
Just coming in here to say that I agree that the automatically moving lobby camera on hubs.mozilla.com makes it hard for people who are trying to watch from outside of the room. Being able to set multiple viewing points, and turn off the motion would be very helpful for when people are trying to watch something going on inside of a full room.
Another alternative that I would be very interested in, is being able to set up an actual camera in the room, set it to track a presenter, and then broadcast that camera's viewpoint to the lobby. As it is, the camera person has to be paying close attention to the presentation to ensure folks in the lobby dont miss anything if the presenter goes out of view. Further, it means that the designated camera person (who is also often the moderator) can't turn around to see how many folks are in the space, or take screencaptures, because it would interrupt the presentation for the folks in the lobby.

No room sound until you enter, or choose to watch from lobby
I'm going through surveys from the XR access symposium, and feedback from a researcher who did a walk through of Hubs and there are a number of comments about sound being too much on first load. If I recall correctly, we've had people at the meetup flag similar issues.
I believe sound specialization may not kick in right away, and it can mean that the voices/audio are very loud at first when you open a Hubs room, and then quiet down. If the default lobby position is right next to a video or an ongoing conversation it is continues to b every loud as you go through the steps to enter.
I wonder if it might be a good idea to not play room audio at first, if we are doing a redesign of the entry flow it might be worthwhile having audio only start once you have decided to enter the room, or spectate from the lobby.

There is no feedback when you are moving. There should be a footstep or some kind of sound to say that you are moving and how fast. There is no feedback when you run into something. There should be an "oof" sound or clang, telling you that direction is blocked.

Users need to turn off JAWS screen reader to move in Hubs
From a researcher who was testing out Hubs with someone using a screen reader, they sent this comment in their report about the experience :
"For screen reader, the virtual cursor must be off to enable users to move in the room"
not sure if they were using JAWS, I will follow up

Missing button labels in entry flow
Received feedback from a researcher who did an analysis of Hubs using a screenreader that there are labels missing from buttons in the entry flow for Hubs.
From their report: -After clicking “Allow” in the prompt (Figure 11), the microphone is enabled, indicated by a green button (Figure 12). None of those buttons is labeled.
- Clicking “Next” open the audio selection interface (Figure 13). Buttons are not labeled.

Featured avatars should have alt-text description field
Note: this is the feedback from the researcher:
"The names of the avatar are text, which is screen reader accessible. The names are not very descriptive. It is unclear how the avatars look, if they are gendered or have any other special features"

Featured avatars should have alt-text description field
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. We received feedback from a researcher who did accessibility testing on Hubs with a person using a screen reader that picking an avatar was challenging because they didn't know what any of the avatars were.
Perhaps there should be an alt text field that gets completed by a Hubs team member when an avatar is promoted to "featured" that gives a brief description to make it easier for folks to choose.
Note - i don't think this should be something that users themselves can add to all avatars, because I worry the alt text would be another thing to check during content review for CPG violations.

Make it easier to find other room visitors
feedback from recent a11y user test shared with us mentioned this issue: "Opening the user list (Figure 5) was successful, and the names were screen readeraccessible. When selecting a user, though, no functionality was present other than displaying its avatar. A chat functionality or a way to locate or interact with the user through this list would be desirable."

Allow users to rename objects in the objects list
Feedback from recent a11y user test mentioned this: "Opening the object list gave no meaningful information (Figure 6). Names are not meaningful, and users use those for navigation."

Magic Sign-in Link doesn't work for mac.com email addresses
We've had two emails to the hubs email address that say that folks aren't able to get the magic sign-on link for [@]mac.com email addresses.
We should test to see if this happens with other related email accounts ([@]icloud.com [@]me.com), and perhaps put a warning if someone tries to use one of these domains.
One weird thing to note is that the email address does not seem to be loading properly in the automated confirmation message:
** how it should look**

how it does look*

Investigate Issues With Users Audio Not Working
the hubs email address received this message related to audio issues on July 29
"Hubs is my absolute favorite video chat and conferencing tool. However, a couple of friends and I tested out his room where we had some audio issues. We are all very tech savvy, so none of believe it was a permissions or settings issue on our devices. I used the latest version of Firefox on a MacBook Pro while my friend used Chrome on his Windows PC. He could hear me, but I could not hear him nor could our other friend hear him. The other friend was using his iPhone and could hear me, but I could not hear him either.
Unless there is an obscure setting or permission we need to change that we haven’t thought of being related (e.g. accessibility features), I believe this is a programming bug."
