[POTENTIAL BUG] Cannot update specific virtualenv, tab completion is producing unexpected results

@limsammy First of all, thank you for your kind words and the submitted issue!

Actually, I had a pretty outdated version of pyenv on my machine. I have updated it to the latest (2.0.6-7) and checked if I can reproduce an issue. Unfortunately, on my machine everything still works fine.

However, I've tried to investigate what can be the problem in your case. First of all, it seems that virtualenv plugin is not working correctly for some setups after upgrading to pyenv v2 (pyenv corresponding issue). Try to use the workarounds provided in this issue.

Also, could you please check if the command pyenv versions (without additional flags) work fine on your setup?

Biber is not working

It seems that I have found the root cause of the error - the problem is in the absence of exec permissions on the /tmp filesystem. Apparently, for some reason biber executes a child process from there. Here I have described how I managed to find the root cause.

I also tried to remove cache as you recommended but this did not help.

Still, I do not understand why I cannot even call a help of the utility. Could it be something wrong with the biber binary?

Biber is not working

I try to build a document using biber as a biblatex backend. Unfortunately, it seems that the biber package for Linux installed using MiKTeX does nothing, thus I cannot build a document.

Even if I simply run bibtex --help I do not see any output.

Testing Errors in Rust | Yury Zhauniarovich

Currently besides all other activities, I am developing a habit of programming following Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology. This is a perfect time because I continue to explore Rust, a new programming language to me. Moreover, this language encourages you to cultivate this best practice by providing great documentation and well-thought ecosystem. In our programs, we often face with exceptional situations (e.g., lack of space when you try to write a file, or absence of a resource), and we need to handle them. If you follow the TDD approach, you need to ensure that these exceptional situations are also properly covered in your tests. Id est, you have to develop tests that reproduce these exceptional situations and make sure th

Closures in Rust | Yury Zhauniarovich

I continue exploring Rust, and today I want to note my thoughts on closures. Closures are important in Rust, because they are extensively used in iterator adapters paramount in development highly performant programs. However, to my point of view this topic is not well-covered in The Book. This may be a reason why it is considered among the most difficult parts of the language. In this post, I will try to shed more light on it, hopefully making it more clear to Rust learners. Note that I am still a novice to the language, and my understanding may not be fully correct.

Maintaining CV and Resume Simultaneously with LaTeX and ModernCV Template | Yury Zhauniarovich

This is the time for me to start looking for a new position. The first thing to do when you start this process, is to update your CV and resume. Although a lot of people (including myself until recently) think that these are two identical documents, in reality they are not. Resume is a short (max 3 pages) concise summary of your experience and achievements that show how you fit the future position. HR people screen tons of documents everyday, and they want to know if a person fits the position from the first glance. In CV, you describe your experience in details, mentioning all the projects that you have participated in, your contributions, what technologies have been used, etc. Moreover, if you have an academic experien

Configuring Network between Host and Guest VM in VirtualBox | Yury Zhauniarovich

From time to time, I experiment with different tools. In order to have the same environment and to keep my working machine clean from the garbage left after such experiments, I do my investigations in a virtualized environment. Usually, my guest operating system (OS) is Ubuntu Server because I usually use this OS in the cloud. Thus, to completely resemble my experience in the cloud I should have terminal access to the guest operating system. Unfortunately, by default after you have installed a guest virtual machine (VM) you do not have network access to it. Therefore, in this article I will show how to configure VirtualBox and guest OSes so that you get access to your virtual machines from the host, e.g., through terminal.

Outdated Pytest Version in Poetry | Yury Zhauniarovich

Problem Recently, I have updated my operating system, and as a part of this process I have installed the latest poetry version (a tool for Python dependency management).
