objection: join forces?

I'm not sure if you are aware. There is a tool https://github.com/sensepost/objection. It does similar patching and support both apk and ipa. It's written on a different language (python) but has more functions (frida integration etc).

So I was wondering, why don't you push your hard work to them and create a single place for all mitm tricks?

objection: join forces?

I was not aware, but it does look very interesting and I'll certainly give it a try.

Here's why I think both projects deserve to coexist regardless:

  • objection is quite a bit more difficult to get started with.

While the README states that the installation is "simply a matter of pip3 install objection", actually using objection patchapk requires installing four separate tools beforehand (in addition to Python, Java, and objection itself). apk-mitm, on the other hand, only requires Java and Node.js to be installed, all other dependencies are bundled with the package.

  • objection can do a lot more which is both a good and a bad thing.

I've used apk-mitm to reverse-engineer the APIs behind a lot of mobile apps and it has served me quite well. I have to admit that I've never even used Frida and that's not because I think it's bad but just because I never had the need for it. Telling users that just want to inspect an app's HTTP requests about this fairly complex tool they never heard of and probably don't need to use seems unnecessary.

  • objection requires a separate tool for patching split APKs while apk-mitm supports them out of the box.

TL;DR: apk-mitm is a lot simpler to get started with and is enough for reverse-engineering simple API-backed apps. objection seems like the way to go in cases where apk-mitm is not enough, but I believe both tools deserve to coexist. Besides, competition is a good thing.

Thanks for bringing objection to my attention, anyway!

After some troubleshooting through Telegram we found out that this issue was caused by Apktool's framework files being corrupted somehow. This isn't exactly a problem with apk-mitm, but I'm sure a workaround for it wouldn't be too difficult to implement.

I tried reproducing your issue by downloading and patching the same version (2.23_81) from APKPure and I didn't get any errors. Can you check whether the version you got and the one I downloaded are the same? In case they are (or at least they both produce errors), can you send me the output of running java -version?

Bug: Account switcher is opened in the wrong position

Clicking the account switcher button in the bottom right corner currently results in the account switcher being opened in the wrong position. I haven't changed any of the extension's settings, so this probably affects most users.

The position of the little arrow at the bottom of the popover also doesn't make a lot of sense if the name and username are only shown while hovering over the button, so it should be either moved to the left or the button text should not be hidden while the popover is shown.

Thanks for making this great extension by the way, it really improves the Twitter user experience a lot!

Feature request: "hide movies"

Cool extension!

Thanks, Julian, I'm glad you like it!

I wondered what would be involved to have a simple hack that gave users the option to hide movies.

This is totally possible, but it would be more than a "simple hack" since I only want to ship polished features with this extension. Making this a polished feature would, in my opinion, entail:

  • Adding a "Hide" button to movie hover cards that nicely blends into the user interface (maybe next to the "Add season to watchlist" icon).

  • Keeping track of hidden movies and syncing them between devices.

    • This is the easiest part since storage.sync (which I'm already using for settings) automatically syncs data between browsers with the same Google/Firefox/etc. account.
  • Actually hiding selected movies from storefront pages.

    • This one's a bit more tricky because Amazon loads in more movies when the user scrolls down. Those newly added movies also have to be filtered based on the list of hidden movies, so a MutationObserver will have to be used.
  • Allowing users to remove movies from the list of hidden movies.

    • This might not seem like a hugely important feature, but I really hate apps that make it difficult or impossible you to undo something you've done, so there should be some way to list and remove hidden movies.

Considering all of this, I am not sure if the effort of implementing and maintaining this feature is worth it. This doesn't mean I'm against it, but I'm not considering it a priority at the moment. If you wanna give this a shot yourself, go ahead, though, I'm open to pull requests!

I had a quick look at the HTML and inside the list item is an aria tag that could be used.

In case you do want to implement this yourself, here's a tip regarding this: You can extract a movie's ASIN (number Amazon uses to identify products and also movies) from the link URL (for example using a RegEx like this: /[A-Z0-9]{10}/) and use that as a key.

Stick Error

I noticed that it's chrome that doesn't detect my joystick if I don't touch any of the buttons

That's just how it is and I can't do anything against that.

What I can do, though, is make sure that gamepad.stick("left").query() doesn't throw an error when no gamepad has been detected yet. This way everything will work once the gamepad has been detected.

I've just released version 2.1.4 with this fix, so please give it a try.

I assume that's because you don't have a (standard mapping) gamepad connected and haven't specified a keyboard fallback using or. Can you post a screenshot of what you can see on the HTML5 Gamepad Tester?

PR opened apollographql/apollo-tooling

Ignore non-file documents when checking operation duplicates

I'm using the Apollo GraphQL extension for VS Code and I regularly run into ️️There are multiple definitions for the '...' operation. errors when viewing Git diffs in the side bar.

That's because whenever a new editor is opened GraphQLProject#documentDidChange is called with the editor's TextDocument object. The document's URI and contents are then stored and later used for checking whether there are duplicate operations in the project. This happens regardless of whether the document is an actual file (URI starting with file://) or something else like a Git diff (URI starting with git:).

This PR adds a check to ensure only actual files are scanned for duplicate operation names.

commit sha e5964394977dc792e84a1352685b1afafbaa168b

Vulkan: Work around false positive on 64-bit Linux w/ 32-bit ICDs In the vast majority of cases, this will be a false positive error thrown by Vulkan-Loader when a Linux system has Vulkan ICDs for both 32-bit and 64-bit. The error is of the form: ``` ERROR: [Loader Message] Code 0 : /usr/lib/libvulkan_intel.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 ERROR: [Loader Message] Code 0 : /usr/lib/libvulkan_radeon.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 ``` The loader dlopen's the 32-bit ICDs first, raises this error, and then happily goes on to try and use the 64-bit ICDs. Upstream report: https://github.com/KhronosGroup/Vulkan-Loader/issues/262 Fixes #36185.
