Vide 0.5.1 seems to not load videos, 0.5.0 works, and Awareness of forks...

I'm still using vide for a project (using it largely for the javascript video handle, don't have time to write a new approach). A couple notes for anyone using it in 2021:

  • Video not loading? Might want to try rolling back to vide 0.5.0. I couldn't get 0.5.1 to work.
  • There's been a number of forks at https://github.com/vodkabears/Vide/network . I had issues with some of them adding features like timeouts, but worth noting if anyone's trying to merge in changes..

Update README.md

Thanks! Perhaps @mhsabbagh has considered linking to this repo from his readme? I only came across your maintenance of green-recorder after digging into https://github.com/mhsabbagh/green-recorder/network .

Thankful to come across green-recorder as a wayland user yet think not many know about this fork to help try & contribute.

The window doesn't appear in window center

If anyone's looking for a workaround one can do the following on gnome:

  • Install gnome-tweaks
  • Open 'Tweaks' application
  • In Windows, enable the 'Center New Windows' option.

Enhancement: Facilitate quitting Application processes if running

A use-case I've personally found useful when using Quicksilver is quickly quitting applications from the keyboard.

Anecdotally it's been particularly useful to quickly quitting and restarting multi-document-interface apps that preserve state (e.g. code editors, web browsers). This could be implemented as a plugin around extending application actions - filing this issue at the least as a note for myself.

Environment

Linux Distribution: Ubuntu 21.04

Expected Behaviour

  1. Open kupfer
  2. Search for application
  3. If application is open, option to quit application is presented.

An option to possibly 'kill' the application could possibly be done as well but would argue it carries the risk of being too powerful of an action to be easily accessible.

Thanks, realizing I'm using Kupfer on Wayland and Wnck support is X11-only. Will re-open when I figure out rough pathway for implementation.

Linux Wayland Support - Understanding Changes Needed

Hi, just starting to look at the code and wondering what would be needed for wayland support. If it's just around the hotkey triggering limitations I know some projects (e.g. kupfer) have just worked around needing X11KeyManager by having a command-line method of invocation paired with instructions to setup a custom shortcut (e.g. via gnome settings).

Opening an issue to discuss/understand if there's other aspects to be considered in attempting to support wayland.

I've downloaded this for Ubuntu but can't get it to run

I've been trying to install this on Ubuntu 21.04 and am having trouble with the apt repo. @danpla what rev are you testing on?

my steps: tried sudo add-apt-repository ppa:daniel.p/dpscreenocr apt returns

E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/daniel.p/dpscreenocr/ubuntu hirsute Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

I've tried sudo apt-get update with the --allow-insecure-repositories but it doesn't seem to ignore the channel, i.e. it'll return Ign:6 http://ppa.launchpad.net/daniel.p/dpscreenocr stable InRelease among other lines.

This means running sudo apt-get install dpscreenocr leads to the error: E: Unable to locate package dpscreenocr
