commit sha 864d20362cda8fccdf754417a77f5f1a08d9f09d

Handle vertical space between elements in the renderer Currently, the frontend adds fixed numbers of newline characters after headings, list items, and paragraphs. This isn't always right in practice. For example, this Markdown: 1. Foo - Bar - Baz Qux …renders like this: 1. Foo - Bar - Baz Qux The newline is missing between the first list item and the nested list because the frontend assumes that every list item is wrapped in a paragraph, and relies on the paragraph end event to insert newlines between list items. In reality, Markdown only wraps list items in paragraphs when there are blank lines between them. There is also an extra newline between the list and the following paragraph because both the list item end event and the list end insert newlines. Refactor the renderer to handle margins between elements: the trailing edge of an element and the leading edge of the next element may both propose a margin, and the renderer uses the largest value. This allows each element to state its requirements without knowing about the behavior of surrounding elements. The margin is elided at the beginning and end of a page. New bug: when a list is made up of paragraphs, the list marker shows up on its own line, followed by a blank line and then the item's text. This will be fixed in a followup commit; the blank lines should be between list items.

Now, you decide when changes are shown to the audience. The button is labeled "take" after the broadcast term for switching from one source to another on a mixer. The technical director generally sets up the new view, which appears on a preview monitor, and then hits a "take" button, or moves a fader, at the moment they're ready to move it to program (the audience's view). In this case, the dashboard is the preview, and changes immediately, while the /?program view only reveals changes when you hit the "take" button.
