PR opened gin-gonic/gin

Update gin_integration_test.go

TestUnixSocket fails if you run it twice in a row. This is due to the unix socket file persisting. Added defer to clean up.

Whats unclear is the following test TestBadUnixSocket I suspect is just looking for cruft maybe from a prior test or defaults not working, I have not enough background to say.

  • With pull requests:
    • Open your pull request against master
    • Your pull request should have no more than two commits, if not you should squash them.
    • It should pass all tests in the available continuous integration systems such as TravisCI.
    • You should add/modify tests to cover your proposed code changes.
    • If your pull request contains a new feature, please document it on the README.

Would it support command line convert?

We have several markdown files that are created by a variety of people at any time, it really would be useful in our case to execute the pdf conversion from the command line as well (versus right clicking dozens of times). I also checked if VSCode had a straightforward to just automate right clicking but didn't see anything.

Go quick start issue

Thats everyone, I went back and tried to recreate my disaster-piece. I believe issue was trying to figure out https://blog.golang.org/protobuf-apiv2 and then went back to the quick start because I was having some troubles.

I was able to just 'start' with the quick start and it work. Sorry for the troubles.

Not critical, but the suggested args to metric-server container (the very next line) would require downloading the yaml not applying it first (tls,ip, etc.). Maybe we should add a warning or something to clarify?

Website bug report - go quickstart broken

Go quick start (https://grpc.io/docs/quickstart/go/) appears to not work based on instructions. I was unable to regenerate helloworld.pb.go as protoc would not regenerate the gRPC server component. Downgrading seems to fix it (there is upstream work that caused this).

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Follow steps in guide up to adding a new server rpc
  2. run protoc fails
 helloworld % protoc -I helloworld helloworld/helloworld.proto --go_out=plugins=grpc:helloworld
2020/04/04 16:42:33 WARNING: Missing 'go_package' option in "helloworld.proto", please specify:
	option go_package = ".;helloworld";
A future release of protoc-gen-go will require this be specified.
See https://developers.google.com/protocol-buffers/docs/reference/go-generated#package for more information.

--go_out: protoc-gen-go: plugins are not supported; use 'protoc --go-grpc_out=...' to generate gRPC
 helloworld %

Expected behavior Adding rpc to server would work.

Additional info I was able to get it working after reading the following:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60578892/protoc-gen-go-grpc-program-not-found-or-is-not-executable

and applying this: GIT_TAG="v1.2.0" # change as needed go get -d -u github.com/golang/protobuf/protoc-gen-go git -C "$(go env GOPATH)"/src/github.com/golang/protobuf checkout $GIT_TAG go install github.com/golang/protobuf/protoc-gen-go

from https://github.com/golang/protobuf. Also added syntax = "proto3"; and removed option java_package = "io.grpc.examples.helloworld" in the proto.

I am probably missing an already existing ticket, but was unable to find one. While I got it working, I don't know if my hack is 'good' enough or even the correct way.

cmd/go: 'no such tool "api"' when running 'go tool api' from downloaded tarball

If you type "go tool" it does not list 'api'. I believe in the past it was showing, so maybe at some point it was removed and I might just be running on stall information. I guess this be closed. I learned a little more about how it all works, so thanks for that!

On Fri, Feb 28, 2020 at 7:34 AM Jay Conrod notifications@github.com wrote:

go tool doesn't have an explicit list of tools: it just checks the pkg/tool/GOOS_GOARCH/ directory.

But why remove it anyway? It doesn't make sense to ship a binary (#13030 https://github.com/golang/go/issues/13030), but it's still used for building and releasing Go itself.

I checked the versions of Go I have installed (a mix dating back to 1.10): none have a binary api, so I don't think there's been any recent change here.

Thanks @ALTree , after reading #13030, it seems that removing 'api' from 'go tool' list would make sense if it's only used for internal development. I haven't dug deeper but it sounds like the recommendation was that in 1.6? I am unfamiliar with how the tools are all build/used/exposed; but happy to learn if this makes sense.

Invalid tool command or web page or both?

Hello Ian,

I had simply used curl -sLO https://dl.google.com/go/go1.13.8.linux-amd64.tar.gz

I will recreate my VM later this week and see if I can recreate it once more (and confirm nothing else weird has happened, but so far can't remember anything odd).
