Let me write my honest opinion, that was born in my head during reading this conversation. Indeed, dynamic economy in Pioneer would be great, but if I would try to do that, I would do it in more "realistic" way. Disadvantage of such a approach is, of course, complexity, both for programmer and for CPU & RAM usage. Main idea would be local avaliability & price of goods based on local production rate - consumption rate + import rate - export rate. Import/export would be the most difficult thing - a dynamic graph containing fractions, systems and stations (for performance reasons could be auto-generated, if player enter particular system). Local production/consumption would be starting factors, that would impact import/export graph. Player itself could alter the avaliability and proce of goods, if would have ship big and fast enough to trade amount of goos considerable big relative to total station/system stock. Please, forgive me, if it's too off-topic. Mayby someone find my remarks interesting and usefull for further altering PR discussed here.
