Hey everyone. I'm running SVL 2020.06 from within Autoware.Auto ade and I'm having an issue getting reliable 2D ground truth detections within the SVL. See the video below:

Basically, some cars get detected sometimes but it is very flaky. As this happens within SVL I don't think it is relevant if I'm using ROS or which bridge I'm using, right? The configuration for the camera that I have looks as follows:

I've struggled a little bit more and found that the reason was probably due to self-occlusion of the objects by the ego-vehicle. Once the camera is repositioned to avoid this we get all objects detected as expected. I believe this issue can be considered completely closed. I also think that if you guys moved away from the center-occlusion check then it won't pop up with the new version again.

Thanks a lot @EricBoiseLGSVL that helps somewhat. I do understand that it is an old version and support is not guaranteed, so thanks for bearing with me. We have an issue for looking at the compatibility of the new version SVL to Autoware.Auto. I have not looked myself and for now just assume there are reasons why we did not switch yet.

With all due respect this is not really an answer. It is not up to me to pick which version to use and there are other issues popping up during any significant update. At this point, I would really like to know if there is anything I can do to have the data I need to be published. If the upgrade is the only solution to the problem I'm facing, the so be it, but I would like to know if there is an alternative.

Seems like the new release is causing the pipelines to fail. See example: https://gitlab.com/autowarefoundation/autoware.auto/AutowareAuto/-/jobs/1561321563

I can already see that the udp_driver_node.hpp has been removed. Do you guys think it warrants to have a list of breaking changes for the release? Ideally, also a transition guide.

Could be possible to disable to show the popup immediately when clicking on a line that has an error?

@ellipticaldoor thanks for this idea. You can still copy the code over, the popup won't interfere with this. We could consider adding such an option but I won't have the time to work on it. I would review a PR with this feature though if you're willing to implement it.

Basically if you have a file called foo.hpp in src/foo.hpp and other one in src/test/foo.hpp then, if for example src/test/foo.hpphas an error message then this one will appear also in src/foo.hpp

@ellipticaldoor oh wow, thanks for reporting this. This is extremely weird. I mean I constantly test on tiles like test.cpp which are all over the place and have never observed the behavior. I would still ask you to update the description respecting the issue template. I will close the issue for now as it does not contain enough information for me to go on but please reopen it once you have updated the issue following the template, the most important part being the log.
