issue commentcallstack/react-native-builder-bob

Module don't work after build and publish but works on example

Update, the problem is that I'm not linking, so a simple npx react-native link resolved.

Module don't work after build and publish but works on example

Environment

NodeJs: 14 Type of project: Java module Config: default (generated by create-react-native-library)

Description

Actually my module work's fine on example project, but when builded and published on packages there's an error:

Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'register')

My module has this function registered as a @ReactMethod, for some reason on builded package, the types are correctly but when executing the functions this error occurs.

Reproducible Demo

Basic generated project of create-react-native-library with target on Java module.

Update

I discovered that even after install the package of my module it not showed on NativeModules variable.

It's not compatible with nextJS application for one reason

For this reasons https://nextjs.org/docs/messages/css-npm

NextJS not allow dependencies import css from node_modules, some ways to fix are suggested. Can you update this dependency and publish a compiled version?

Reach out to the maintainer and ask for them to publish a compiled version of their dependency.

The error exactly is this:

./node_modules/react-cam/lib/lib/style.css
Global CSS cannot be imported from within node_modules.

How to use with functional component?

I tried to use on my functional component like this:

<VirtualKeyboard
        onRef={ref => keyboardRef = ref}
        onPressFunction={() => setCpf("PRESS")}
        keyDown={keyDown}
 />

The keydown function as it:

  const keyDown = (key) => {
   // Key pressed
  setCpf("VALUE")
 }

And ref:

 let keyboardRef = useRef();

How to use with functional component?

It work, what's doesn't works is the keyDown, the solution was use the onChange property.

 <VirtualKeyboard
        onChange={keyDown}
      />
      ```
      Work's perfectly without onRef property!
