can't change environment

@zzlxf sba is doing a options request to the env endpoint of the underlying application to figure out wether it supports POST requests or not and showing the environment manager depending on that.

So you need to check if your endpoint supports POST requests when using the config client. If not it is a spring cloud issue

If the log is from you SBA server and it should register at itself the spring.boot.admin.url looks wrong. I guess it should be http://localhost:7001/spring-boot-admin-java instead of http://localhost:7001/

When an application uses the configuration center to pull the configuration file from the server, can't the logging.file parameter be modified by modifying the environment variable

@DhavalShewale I guess there are some other users that prefer the tab over the download - so I decided to leave that up to the browser to decide wether it is shown as new tab or downloaded. If you can display it as new tab you should also be able to right-click it and to choose "save as"

Allow creation of custom nested routed components Undefined name prevents creation of nested routed components, because the `router-link` in `sidebar` uses this name as target. Any (custom) instance view that is determined to have any children is therefore unclickable. In fact I can't see any reason to have undefined name. Maybe there is some, but in such case I would like to know it to be able to design some workaround.

Multiple instances and alerting within Spring Boot Admin

Hi,

I have multiple instances of Spring boot admin running on cloudfoundry, as i have email notifications enabled this results in multiple emails being sent when a registered services’ state changes.

What I would like is to only get an alert from any one instance of spring boot admin. I already use the Shedlock library for similar purposes within other projects.

https://github.com/lukas-krecan/ShedLock

Is there a way to easily integrate something like shedlock into spring boot admin email notifications?

Thanks

Multiple instances and alerting within Spring Boot Admin

If you use multiple instances you can already use hazelcast to dedupe the notifications. This was added in 2.2.0 with https://github.com/codecentric/spring-boot-admin/issues/1122

If you don't want to use hazelcast, you can implement the Notifier interface with the locking mechanisms of SchedLock, but I currently refuse to add this to SBA.

We rely on the default settings for jackson. See https://github.com/codecentric/spring-boot-admin/issues/751 - it also has a solution to have a different config for the actuator at the bottom.

custom view js/css are not loaded because of wrong mime-type

spring-boot: 2.2.2.RELEASE spring-boot-admin: 2.2.0-SNAPSHOT

I try to add my own custom-view ("cc") I followed https://github.com/codecentric/spring-boot-admin/tree/master/spring-boot-admin-samples/spring-boot-admin-sample-custom-ui

Loading seems to work 2020-01-06 14:37:02.072 INFO 6588 --- [ main] b.a.s.u.c.AdminServerUiAutoConfiguration : Loaded Spring Boot Admin UI Extension: UiExtension(resourcePath=cc/js/cc.ca1ba42b.js, resourceLocation=file:target/vue-dist/cc/js/cc.ca1ba42b.js) 2020-01-06 14:37:02.073 INFO 6588 --- [ main] b.a.s.u.c.AdminServerUiAutoConfiguration : Loaded Spring Boot Admin UI Extension: UiExtension(resourcePath=cc/css/cc.4992ea56.css, resourceLocation=file:target/vue-dist/cc/css/cc.4992ea56.css)

But then the real ui is not showing the new views

I see only 2 errors in chrome

Refused to apply style from 'http://localhost:8080/cc/css/cc.4992ea56.css' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled. details:1 Refused to execute script from 'http://localhost:8080/cc/js/cc.ca1ba42b.js' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not executable, and strict MIME type checking is enabled. A bad HTTP response code (404) was received when fetching the script.

Improve Deserialization of InstanceEvents

@ChunMengLu Currently I think the best is to provide a jackson module with your deserializer by SBA as I'm currently refusing to taint the code with the jackson polymorphic deserialization stuff. Do you want to work on a PR for this?

I guess your spring.boot.admin.client.url has the wrong port and therefore the connection is refused.

Stackoverflow on PetClinic after adding `@EnableAdminServer`.

I was just playing around, but trying to run this straight from the PetClinic demo. I had to do some digging to find a version that would even work for me, but I got a literal StackOverflow when I introduced @EnableAdminServer.

PetClinic commit id: 4e1f87407d80cdb4a5a293de89d62034fdcbb847

These are the only changes I added. I was kind of hoping this would work but I know it's a small project so...

Stackoverflow on PetClinic after adding `@EnableAdminServer`.

You can include the SBA to your business application, but you really shouldn't: https://codecentric.github.io/spring-boot-admin/current/#faqs

ServerSentEventHttpMessageReader maps null when the eventsream has comment only.

Could you provide minimal demo to reproduce the problem?

There is already code in the issue description. Which can be easily pasted into a public static void main.

Allow snake case formatting

I just needed this myself. This is my approach to serialize the actuator endpoints using the "default" object mapper and everything else with a custom config.

@Bean
   @Order(0)
   public MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter actuatorJacksonHttpMessageConverter(Jackson2ObjectMapperBuilder builder) {
   	var converter = new MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter(builder.build()) {
   		@Override
   		protected boolean canWrite(MediaType mediaType) {
   			//only exact matches
   			if (mediaType == null) {
   				return false;
   			}
   			return super.canWrite(mediaType);
   		}
   	};
   	converter.setSupportedMediaTypes(MediaType.parseMediaTypes(List.of(
   			ActuatorMediaType.V1_JSON,
   			ActuatorMediaType.V2_JSON,
   			ActuatorMediaType.V3_JSON
   	)));
   	return converter;
   }

   @Bean
   @Order(Ordered.LOWEST_PRECEDENCE)
   MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter defaultJackson2HttpMessageConverter(Jackson2ObjectMapperBuilder builder) {
   	builder.serializationInclusion(JsonInclude.Include.NON_NULL).propertyNamingStrategy(PropertyNamingStrategy.SNAKE_CASE);
   	return new MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter(builder.build());
   }

InstanceEvent is not friendly enough for deserialization。

Could you please elaborate a bit on your customizing and why you need to deserialize the InstanceEvents using jackson? What changes to the InstanceEvents would you apply to improve it?

Upgrade to Spring Boot 2.2.3

ServerSentEventHttpMessageReader maps null when the eventsream has comment only.

With Spring 5.2.3 I'm experiencing a Bug when reading server sent events with the web client. I've managed to write this minimal sample to reproduce the bug:

This code works perfectly fine on Spring 5.2.2

public static void main(String[] args) {
		ServerSentEventHttpMessageReader reader = new ServerSentEventHttpMessageReader();
		DataBufferFactory factory = new DefaultDataBufferFactory();

		ReactiveHttpInputMessage message = new ReactiveHttpInputMessage() {
			@Override
			public Flux<DataBuffer> getBody() {
				return Flux.just(
					factory.wrap(":ping\n".getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8)),
					factory.wrap("\n".getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8))
				);
			}

			@Override
			public HttpHeaders getHeaders() {
				return new HttpHeaders();
			}
		};

		Flux<Object> flux = reader.read(ResolvableType.forType(String.class), message, emptyMap());
		flux.collectList().block().forEach(System.out::println);
	}

But on Spring 5.2.3 an exception is thrown.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException: The mapper returned a null value.

  1. When on page insights>details where all the nice graphs are drawn there are also ~40 graphs for my caches. Because of that the app gets literally overwhelmed with requests for current hit/miss numbers. I see a huge cpu usage when on that details page. Otherwise not.

Are you speaking of the cpu the browser is running on or the server? I think it would be useful to not display the caches by default if they exceed a certain limit (e.g. 5)

Can i increase the interval those request are done ?

The caches are refreshed every 2.5s. Currently there is no option to pause or customize this. But if you want to work on a PR for this, it would be great.

  1. All requests for cache size (.../instances/.../actuator/metrics/cache.size?tag=name:...) get a 404 from SBA server as i can see in browser console.

IIRC this is because not every cache implementation provides this metric.

Spring boot 2.2 issue with lazy-initialization

If I am using Spring Boot 2.2 with lazy-initialization=true, I am getting an error with: couldn't determine local port. Please set spring.boot.admin.client.instance.service-base-url

I think it's because the method @EventListener public void onWebServerInitialized(WebServerInitializedEvent event) {

of the class de.codecentric.boot.admin.client.registration.DefaultApplicationFactory is not excecuted.

I don't know if it can be fixed or not... Maybe it's must be indicated in the documentation.

Notes: I am not using Discovery, juste simple spring boot application (docker in production) I don't want to set spring.boot.admin.client.instance.service-base-url (all dynamic).

No option to update env or refresh properties.

Hi,

I am using spring-boot-admin this is my pom for server:

<dependencies>
		<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-starter</artifactId>
		</dependency>
		<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework.cloud/spring-cloud-starter -->
		<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.cloud</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-cloud-starter</artifactId>
			<version>2.1.4.RELEASE</version>
		</dependency>
		<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-test</artifactId>
			<scope>test</scope>
			<exclusions>
				<exclusion>
					<groupId>org.junit.vintage</groupId>
					<artifactId>junit-vintage-engine</artifactId>
				</exclusion>
			</exclusions>
		</dependency>
		<dependency>
			<groupId>de.codecentric</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-admin-starter-server</artifactId>
			<version>2.1.6</version>
		</dependency>
		<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
		</dependency>
	</dependencies>

In the client I have this:

<dependency>
			<groupId>de.codecentric</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-admin-starter-client</artifactId>
			<version>2.1.6</version>
		</dependency>

I have enabled all actuator endpoint and made all security to false:

<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-actuator</artifactId>
		</dependency>
		<dependency>
			<groupId>org.springframework.cloud</groupId>
			<artifactId>spring-cloud-config-server</artifactId>
			<version>2.2.0.RELEASE</version>
		</dependency>

management.endpoints.web.exposure.include=*
management.endpoint.health.show-details=always
http.csrf().disable();
http.authorizeRequests()
    	 .antMatchers("/actuator/**")
    	 .permitAll()
         .anyRequest()
         .authenticated()
         .and()
         .oauth2Login()
         .userInfoEndpoint()
		 .oidcUserService(userService)

I am able to refresh properties from Postman by sending post request to /actuator refresh. But I do not see any option on spring-boot-admin page to change and refresh the configuration property. Is is supported? Did I miss any configuration?

No option to update env or refresh properties.

If you have the spring-cloud-common on your classpath, the /env endpoint supports post request and the /refresh endpoint is available - then SBA will show you an environment manager section on the environment page which allows you to update the spring property as well as trigger a refresh of the refresh-scoped beans.

I can download the logfile from Inslights-Logging-Logfile when the admin version was '2.1.5.RELEASE', when I update the admin version to '2.2.1.RELEASE', I can't download it, when I click the download button, It's just jump a new page with a html header but don't start a download process. What's worse, I can't download the dumpfile too. Why happened this, It's my security config error? Maybe not, because I try to set the anyRequest() is permitAll(), it seems to doesn't work too. Please. Thank you!

Can not fetch the config server or can not fetch the config from config server

Did you mean this is an error of spring cloud config or spring cloud netflix ?

yes. IIRC spring cloud config uses a bootstrap.yml maybe there are some (breaking) changes / bugs hiding there.

Can not fetch the config server or can not fetch the config from config server

In Spring Cloud G .Everthing runs well. But in Spring Cloud Hoxton.SR1.Spring Boot 2.2.1., there is a bug i think:

I have config the SBA fetch configs from conig server, like that:

...
spring:
  profiles:
    active: test
....
---
spring:
  profiles: test
  cloud:
    config:
      fail-fast: true
      retry:
        initial-interval: 2000
        max-attempts: 15
        max-interval: 3000
        multiplier: 1.3
      profile: test
      label: dev
      discovery:
        enabled: false
        service-id: tdf-cloud-config
eureka:
  client:
    service-url:
      defaultZone: "http://appadmin:app123456@192.168.70.40:8761/eureka"
.....

But the SBA did not fetch the correct config server from 192.168.70.40 . the error logs from console: image It always fetch config from localhost

I don't see how that relates to SBA, as it doesn't have anything to do with spring cloud config. I guess the same behaviour occurs without sba.
