Expose more configuration through values.yaml files

What

This bumps the helm chart version and allows for changing more configuration values by overwriting the values.yaml or supplying --sets when installing/upgrading.

How

  • Changed the template that generates the full image path to consider global.imageRegistry. This makes it easier to use a private image registry for all images.
  • Exposed frontend configuration for fullstory, openreplay, storytime, and whether or not it is a demo.
  • Allow for changing log level independently for scheduler and server.
  • The helm chart can now be used to deploy different versions of Airbyte without having to bump the .Chart.appVersion and releasing a new version of the chart. To do this, you can override the values.yaml when installing with a partial like so:
version: 0.29.22-alpha
webapp:
  image:
    tag: 0.29.22-alpha
server:
  image:
    tag: 0.29.22-alpha
scheduler:
  image:
    tag: 0.29.22-alpha

Its a little verbose, but it allows changing all values independently if testing different configurations is desired.

issue commentairbytehq/airbyte

Incorrect Jersey configurations.

Talked with @davinchia. I was able to roll back to 0.29.13-alpha successfully. I tried upgrading again to 0.29.21-alpha. Here are the logs from the server and the scheduler after the upgrade:

airbyte-logs.zip

I port forwarded directly to the webapp pod to rule out our nginx ingress as I was seeing some timeout errors that it was intercepting. Verified that none of the pods were crash looping. The main symptom we are experiencing after the upgrade is that none of the pages load that deal with sources or destination. We just get the spinner forever. The Account, Configuration, Notifications, and Metrics settings pages all load though.

Yes, I might try to do a rollback to 0.29.13-alpha to see if that fixes it.

issue commentairbytehq/airbyte

Incorrect Jersey configurations.

Was running version 0.29.13-alpha in Kubernetes with no issues. Upgrade to 0.29.19-alpha and started seeing this issue on the API route /api/v1/source_definitions/list_latest. Recently tried upgrading to 0.29.21-alpha to see if it fixed the issue, but still seeing it. It appears to prevent any of the connections, sources, or destinations from loading in the UI.

Add kubernetes labels to PRs

What

This PR makes it easier to see which PRs deal with kubernetes manifests.

How

It adds labeling rules to the existing labeler workflow and uses the same label kubernetes that is used for issues.

@davinchia, This job in the workflow:

  1. Spins up a kind cluster
  2. Does a helm install of the chart with the default values.yaml file and waits(with the --wait 600s for all the pods to be ready according to the readiness probe. If there is a misconfig in the env-configmap, the pod should crash loop and the install will fail. I've seen this locally when it can't reach postgres or mino it just crash loops.
  3. It then runs a helm test which spins up a test pod to make sure the web frontend index.html is able to be fetched. (If there are other good tests, like hitting specific routes on the server service, those can be added as well for a more comprehensive test)

You can find the an example and output of the action here(https://github.com/jonstacks/airbyte/runs/3613634997)

@davinchia, hand written. I used a lot of the bitnami helm-charts as inspiration for writing the docs(ex: airflow). They might have something special for that, but I didn't see anything.
