issue closedbrave/brave-browser

Brave Version: 91.1.26.77 - MacOS slows to a crawl

Description

Brave updated on my laptop yesterday afternoon and is completely unusable today. Even after exiting the application, it still beach balls my system until a restart is performed. Process of elimination and 3 restarts confirms it is Brave as the cause of the issue.

System: MBP 2019 - 16GB RAM Brave Version: 91.1.26.77

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Allow Brave to update to 91.1.26.77
  2. Run Brave on MBP
  3. System consistently beach balls until restarted, even after Brave closed again

Actual result:

System slows to a crawl

Expected result:

Brave performs as normal

Reproduces how often:

Ever since 91.1.26.77 installed

Brave version (brave://version info)

91.1.26.77

Version/Channel Information:

  • Can you reproduce this issue with the current release? Yes
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the beta channel? Not tried
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the nightly channel? Not tried

Other Additional Information:

  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Shields? No
  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Rewards? No
  • Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome? Haven't tried

Miscellaneous Information:

This has not happened before 91.1.26.77.

With all other things being equal and running Firefox Dev Edition and/or Safari instead of Brave, the problem does not occur
