Make timer implementation return number of libretro core frames to play

  • The timer module is initialised with the libretro core (target) frame rate. The timer module calculates the target period (1/f).
  • The front end reports the time taken to execute retro_run() to the timer module. The timer module returns how many times retro_run() should be executed.
    • If the returned value is 0, then the front end must delay, possibly perform some other tasks in the meantime, then call the timer module again to check whether retro_run() should be executed or not.
    • If the returned value is larger than 1, then either the front-end is not running fast enough, or the refresh rate is less than the target.
  • The front may reset the internal timer if real-time playback is broken (eg. by pausing the game).

Infinite Loop in particular song.

I think this issue usually happens when the last loop of the song goes back to a part of the song where there are no other branches but itself.

By allowing only long branches, there is a much better chance that the song can be played infinitely.

Jukebox configuration with only long branches enabled Animation showing song looping properly

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply and for your great work so far. I'm personally not bothered about LTR and RTL being mixed within the same text. But I wonder if that issue applies to numbers in Persian, which are written LTR within text that is RTL, as shown below.

The sample text is the poem Bani Adam written by Iranian poet Saadi in 1258. I sourced the text from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bani_Adam :slightly_smiling_face:

msg: drop old instead of new messages on overflow It did that because there was no other way. It used a lock-free ring buffer, which does not support this. Use a "manual" ring buffer with explicit locks instead, and drop messages from the start. (We could have continued to use mp_ring, but it was already too late, and although mp_ring is fine, using it for types other than bytes looked awkward, and writing a ring buffer yet again seemed nicer. At least it's not C++, where mp_ring would have been a template, and everything would have looked like shit soup no matter what.)

input: export input.conf comments ot input-bindings property This is supposed to turn input.conf comments into inline documentation. Whether this will be useful depends on whether there'll be a script using this field. This changes a small aspect of input.conf parsing fundamentally: this attempts to strip comments/whitespace from the command string, which will later be used to generate the command when a key binding is executed. This should not have any negative effects, but there could be unknown bugs. (For some reason, every command is parsed when input.conf is parsed, but it still only stores the string for the command. I guess that saves some minor amount of memory.)

commit sha 311cc5b611ae9baed47549ee3ad2cef04f4892e0

lua: make add_key_binding() rotate optional arguments correctly add_key_binding() makes the name argument optional (in weird Lua fashion), which did not work if there were additional arguments. So there is no way to avoid specifying a name while passing a rp argument. Fix this, declare this way of skipping the argument as deprecated, and allow passing name=nil as the preferred way to skip the name argument.
