--offline flag doesn't seem to affect new-build

By the way, one really nice thing that the Nix tools now do is automatically detect whether you're online, so when you're on the airplane or whatnot it behaves sensibly and gives "you can't do this without the internet" error messages.

issue closedGabriel439/Haskell-Pipes-Parse-Library

Why is parseForever deprecated?

parseForever seems like a very sensible function, and its deprecation makes me concerned that I don't understand something about pipes. Is it deprecated because it doesn't work properly? Is turning a parser into a Pipe not a good thing to do in general, or is the problem specific to the Parser type in this library?

RFC: Dropping build support for GHC < 8

Is there an automated way to search Hackage for projects that have both

  1. a dependency on the Cabal package; and
  2. a lower bound on base that is lower than 4.9?

Ah. In that case I don't even understand how it would be possible to be affected by this.

RFC: Dropping build support for GHC < 8

I do maintain libraries that support versions of GHC older than the GHCs I "use" myself, so I'm wondering if 1% is perhaps an underestimation of who this might affect in some way. (That said, I don't think I actually still support GHC 7.x on anything, because 8.0 added Semigroup.)

One nicety that might make this entirely painless for some "niche case" users: Could the default Cabal version in the setup GitHub action be "the latest Cabal version that supports the requested GHC version"? That might spare some people the extra brain space of mapping GHC versions to appropriate Cabal versions themselves.

File name hedgehog.hs causes failure on macOS

Rename this file, and add macOS to the CI build matrix

Test suite doesn't build on darwin

Due to the case insensitive nature of darwin's file system GHC will complain that it can't distinguish between hedgehog.hs which is supposedly a Main module and the Hedgehog module in scope, resulting in the following, quite confusing error:

test/Hedgehog.hs:1:1: error:
File name does not match module name:
    Saw: ‘Main’
    Expected: ‘Hedgehog’

Renaming the test entrypoint to Main.hs or similar should fix this.

This affects assoc-list and assoc-listlike.
