Here is the state of things with the choc switches. The fit is pretty good. I didn't measure, but it took me 5-10 prints to get it correct. If anybody is interested in tackling this issue, just look at use-choc in the code base. You can probably introduce a case statement for the type of switch used. Clojure might look a little foreign, but you won't need to do anything too complicated. Just modifying number values, printing and trying the result. Of course, feel free to post your question if you have any.

I think unless we can find a technique that works for SVGs of all sizes we should probably drop it. I think it’s confusing for the feature to be gated on SVG size, I can imagine e.g. people reporting bugs that the highlighting feature doesn’t work on their SVG.

Thanks for looking into this though!

Plotted lines now change color to indicate overall progress

When I was last experimenting with the SVG renderer, the bottleneck I encountered was not constructing the SVG tree, but actually the re-render performance. Changing the color of one line in the SVG will result in Chrome re-rendering the entire SVG, which for complex plots can be a quite expensive operation. This is why the cursor overlay is rendered as a separate <svg> element. Some saxi users plot SVGs up to tens or even hundreds of MB (e.g. https://github.com/nornagon/saxi/issues/62)

Can you try this out on a more complex SVG and check that the performance is acceptable? Perhaps Chrome has improved its SVG rendering pathways...

Added loading overlay on replanning and file loading

Fixes #27

I added a simple overlay when file is being loaded and on replanning as well. It uses styles similar to the "Drop SVG here" element.

Here is video of the loader in action: https://imgur.com/a/HAPuTTg

Better loading spinner when replanning after dragging an SVG

When you drag a new SVG over an existing one (especially when it takes a while to get the initial plan), it's easy to think that nothing's happening (the only thing showing that it's working is that the "Plot" button changes to "Replanning..."). We should clear out the old plan and show a loading spinner.

Reduce thickness of case

I've also seen that the amoeba PCB doesn't fit. The choc pcb swap is different, I'll be testing that in the next few days. I'm receiving a new version of the design with the choc switch. I'll be posting where I am at the moment so that anybody interested in this can have a look at the code for the choc and do something similar for the kailh.

Reduce thickness of case

I've also tried to fit an amoeba PCB there, and indeed like @RaoulDuke-Esq said in the OP, it won't fit due to the depth of the socket in relation to the frame.

It might still work but it won't be too tight a fit and could end up falling off.

Reduce thickness of case

I've finally received my keyswitches. I've printed one slot of the choc version of this.

It mostly works. I can get the switch into the slot and it's fairly snug but it definitely doesn't hook to the border like it should.

PR opened nornagon/saxi

Added loading overlay on replanning and file loading

Fixes #27

I added a simple overlay when file is being loaded and on replanning as well. It uses styles similar to the "Drop SVG here" element.

Here is video of the loader in action: https://imgur.com/a/HAPuTTg
