Move to node12

Some work was done in January to move to node12 / gulp4 / update the transpilers.

Since we will be using bedrock1 for some projects, we need to pick this up again.

This issue is about moving over to node 12. The idea is that users who download Node from https://nodejs.org/en/ without having nvm can run Bedrock without problems and without the need to install nvm (although we still recommend using nvm)

AWS S3

How does this package work with static hosting on AWS S3?

The documentation says to redirect 404 traffic to the root application for it to catch the routes.

How is this solved on AWS S3?

And to make matters worse. If I have my svelte app in a subdir, how will routing work in this case?

In my scenario I have a static HTML page at index.html (non-svelte) and svelte app in /myapp/ catching the routes for /myapp/route. So I will be unable to route to the root domain.

Troubleshooting section/page

Would be neat with a page dedicated to troubleshooting. Sometimes errors are hard. Copying what I wrote on discord, it should be descriptive enough:

I'm going to go ahead and claim that there is a good reason to add a Troubleshooting section to the website. I've run into an issue a couple of times (and now a work buddy ran into the same issue) where we get errors like Route coule not be found. Make sure ... or ... exists. A restart may be required.. The solution is usually to edit some kind of link, like: href="my-link" to href="/my-link" or the like. Sometimes I've noticed it happening to svgs and stuff as well, so you get /video-camera.svg.svelte which is a bit strange :stuck_out_tongue:

Browser titles are not accurate

The browser titles on the pages about the starter template could mention this sub-level.

https://routify.dev/guide/starter-Template/configuration

Title is: Configuration - Routify whereas it would be better if it was Configuration - Starter template - Routify.

I've had some ideas about inheriting meta data of titles over layouts.

For example, the outermost layout has a page title: Website

For example, the middle layout has a page title: Module. For example, the inner layout has a page title: Detail

The resulting would be: Detail - Module - Website (I vastly prefer this to the reverse, for short browser tab reasons).

Add: how to implement Google Analytics event tracking

In _layout.svelte:

$: if ($route) {
    ga("set", "page", $route.path);
    ga('send', 'pageview');
  }

In index.html:

<script>
   window.ga=window.ga||function(){(ga.q=ga.q||[]).push(arguments)};ga.l=+new Date;
   ga('create', 'UA-YOUR-PROPERTY-ID', 'auto');
</script>
<script async src='https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js'></script>

Note from @jakobrosenberg : page would be a better choice than $route I think. At the moment it's only available in the 1.5 beta.

Shouldn't you just add this to your base index.html file? I don't see a point to put it in the main _layout. If it needs to be on every page anyway.

I think this issue is a bit moot then. So will be closing.

Automate styleguide tree

https://github.com/usebedrock/bedrock2-angular/blob/638abb21b22a7ea47a457e3ed34f4dbaf3d25794/src/app/pages/styleguide/styleguide.component.html

Currently I don't really like how the active class is repeated so many times.

This component tree is bound to get pretty large. Most projects have 50+ components. Manually updating it will be a pain after a while.

Can we add some automation to this tree? We could put the category (Basics, components, ...) in the router data and then loop over the categories, by a set category order.

In Bedrock 1 the category order is defined in a config JS file: https://github.com/usebedrock/bedrock/blob/master/bedrock.config.js#L26-L30

Is is then looped over: https://github.com/usebedrock/bedrock/blob/6a71f8e5cfbd8ac56e47437833c348c68d828d67/core/templates/includes/styleguide-nav.pug#L3

Can we do something similar that is clever to avoid too many manual steps?
