commit sha f68bfad4c45df8bdb5b3eb15a65097f388c8f5cc

SOLR-15555 Improved caching on FilterQuery (#230) Create a new cache mode for CaffeineCache where we can optionally use an async cache instead of the synchronous implementation. This is useful for cases (esp FilterQuery) where many identical requests come in near the same time and they would otherwise race to fill the same cache slot. CaffeineCache computeIfAbsent now accepts an IOFunction instead of the non-throwing java.util.Function interface. This required an update to CaffeineCache 2.9, which updates putIfAbsent with an optimistic get. Also incidentally fixes a rare bug where cache ramBytesUsed would be incorrectly reported under heavy cache contention/eviction loads.

Enable basic Authentication Solr Cloud

If you are using docker, I recommend Kubernetes and the Solr Operator. It will bootstrap the security.json for you, or you can include credentials.

Here are the docs: https://apache.github.io/solr-operator/docs/solr-cloud/solr-cloud-crd.html#authentication-and-authorization

Alternatively, here is the values.yaml file for the SOLR helm chart: https://github.com/apache/solr-operator/blob/main/helm/solr/values.yaml#L60

IMO, Kubernetes is the preferred way to run SOLR with Docker. If you must run it without Kube, you should read the documentation on this page: https://solr.apache.org/guide/8_1/basic-authentication-plugin.html#enable-basic-authentication

For Solr Cloud, you need to put security.json on a place where everyone can find it. That place is Zookeeper. Sorry for the wait.

That's all fine here. GDPR does not even use the term "cookie", it just talks about information that identifies a user at the data processor. A cookie per se is not part of that, as long as it is not used to identify a user on our servers ("data processor"). And that's not what was done here. The cookie can contain anything, as long as we have no corresponding record on our side, we can't identify users.

pull request commentapache/solr-site

Remove the sticky-note that appears on first visit

This all makes sense. My understanding of GDPR was that if there was ever a cookie present on a site that is used to identify a user, not necessarily in the real world nor using PII, we would need to tell the users that we use cookies to give them an opportunity to opt out. We do not need to give users a chance to opt out if the need to store the cookie and identify them is a legitimate interest of ours. If it is for certain things like personalization or user preferences, things get murky.

Of course, I am deferring to your knowledge on GDPR as you have a lot more experience with it I presume. I think the larger point is that Apache stores nothing about the users now. So, maybe this is all moot? I wanted to be sure I raised it because I was not sure, and therefore I was not sure it was an oversight or not.

Remove swagger vulnerability

Proposed changes

<!-- Describe the big picture of your changes here to communicate to the maintainers why we should accept this pull request. If it fixes a bug or resolves a feature request, be sure to link to that issue. -->

A vulnerability bot flagged an issue with the Swagger UI. The issue is quite serious as it enables input value exfiltration. Swagger is used with authorization credentials, so this attack could have severe consequences for a service that is long-lived.
