Design doc for reuse of defaultResolve

@jonaskello, this topic is also something I have known would require a design document, so I am glad that you made a good start with this seeing as how we still have not determined how we are going to expose the default resolution algorithms to a) the loader or b) anywhere else in userland. I think these default algorithms should be exposed as helper functions as part of a core module, but we have not really given this topic as much air-time as we probably should have (others have requested it already).

I would gladly endure a presentation about how folks propose we go about doing this and I'm sure the others would as well.

Node.js Loaders Team Meeting 2021-09-21

I did not have enough time to make a design doc for what I wanted to discuss wrt chained loaders.

Hope you all don't mind if I sit this one out and listen until next time (the agenda looks pretty juicy).

Document “AsyncGenerator” & “AsyncGeneratorFunction”

After reading the specification some more, I noticed that we may have made a copying error here when saying that it “conforms to both the iterable protocol and iterator protocol”, since it seems to actually conform to the async iterable protocol and async iterator protocol

Refs: https://tc39.es/ecma262/#sec-asyncgenerator-objects

We should ensure that this is corrected in the PR that adds this page.

Unfortunately, it seems like MDN is missing pages for those protocols (previous links make no mention)…

doc: make version picker usable on mobile

@evanlucas, seems like this is good to go as soon as the review point made by @aduh95 is addressed (or not).

I would like to see this land either way, but would need to rebase due to having multiple commits in the PR (please handle this).

Document “AsyncGenerator” & “AsyncGeneratorFunction”

@wbamberg, I was under the impression that @Rumyra was going to wrap things up here, but if she doesn't have the bandwidth to get it over the finish line at the moment, I am happy to do so. I know there were a lot of other tasks associated w/ getting this PR ready to land, so I will see if I can coordinate via Matrix in the next couple days to see what can be done on my end.

Please figure out what the subsequent meeting times will be so that we can get the issue creation tool using that time.

Node.js Loaders Team Meeting 2021-09-15

For future reference, changing the time on a whim without asking is something that we cannot repeat.

These kinds of technical discussions require preparation and I for one did not anticipate a re-scheduling to exclude our invitees to discuss who-knows-what anymore. You all can have your ad-hoc, but hijacking this issue is completely inappropriate. This team/group should operate using Design Reviews in the future and I think we should charter as WG. The part about having “less obligations” may seem appealing, but it probably means that our implementation suffers because of it.

Unstructured discussions about abstract concepts doesn't seem to be very effective to me.

Node.js Loaders Team Meeting 2021-09-15

@GeoffreyBooth, the whole point of having an experimental API is to allow the opportunity to collect feedback in order to iterate.

Having a 2-person-meeting to forge ahead without consulting the rest of the team/group who likely have input on the matter is simply unfair to the rest of us who have spent time and energy thinking about this very problem space. The last time we discussed chaining, we did not seem to have any sort of consensus on what we though the behavior would be like.

Feature request: Fine grained API to implement loaders that can do what --experimental-specifier-resolution does and more

Yeah, @weswigham has clued us in about the TypeScript filesystem resolution algorithm in the past. Feel free to read up more on that at https://github.com/nodejs/help/issues/2642#issuecomment-616819273. We may need to implement pieces of that algorithm in core as well since we probably still have unintelligible error messages for failed resolutions on our supported host OSes. I do like the idea about being able to provide Host — @cspotcode, would you mind linking the source to that?
