Could not find the program '/usr/local/bin/firefox'

Please, explain, how exactly MM asks the OS (and nevertheless, stuff like needs to be configurable on a per-app basis)

Could not find the program '/usr/local/bin/firefox'

in the OS no such configuration exists: /etc/alternatives/x-www-browser -> /usr/bin/vivaldi-stable

Could not find the program '/usr/local/bin/firefox'

I confirm (by marking "x" in the [ ] below: [x]):

Summary Hitting a link in a message results in an error popup saying

Could not find the program '/usr/local/bin/firefox'

which is true, since it doesn't exist.

  • It's unclear why MM tries to open that path at all.
  • There's no way in the very very limited settings to configure anything of that kind.

Environment

  • Operating System: Linux
  • Mattermost Desktop App version: 4.4.0
  • Mattermost Server version: 5.17.1

Steps to reproduce

click a link

Expected behavior

use system default or ask

Observed behavior

MM tries to open non-existant path and pops up a message "Could not find the program '/usr/local/bin/firefox'"

Possible fixes

  • don't presume
  • use system defaults as other programs are used to do
  • ask and store
  • provide a setting

Don't use the unreadChildren property of message threads as the unread count

Pulled the code yesterday, built and run -- and yet I do get the usual wrong unread count (tough only 1 today so far). BTW: not sure if somehow related, but the button ins Settings -> "Fix the unread message count" is never active, whatever I tried.

MM does not remember last selected folder for downloads, but always defauklst to some not-configurable folder instead, no matter whatever folder I selected the last time.

make download folder configurable/remember last selected folder

Download folder should be configurable -- I am no fan of one-folde3r-for-all apps, but need to decide where each app stores its stuff.

Still the same issue with SQL as described by @gopalakrishnan-subramani. Where/in what version is it fixed?

client with access token/refresh token -- is it implemented?

I need to create an OAuth2 client that uses access token and refresh token to frequently downloads data from the server.

  1. The server is 3d party service I have no control over
  2. authentication has already be done and I am handed the access token and refresh token
  3. with those two I need to collect once a day data, hence refresh the token every 24hrs, store and use it for my requests

After several days I am no longer sure this is possible with spring security oauth2 -- documentation is rather confusing and all examples, be it with Spring or elsewhere concentrate on a server (which I don't need) or stop with authorization/password login.

So, is my scenario at all possible with this project or do I need to do everything on my own? If this is, in fact, answered somewhere, could you please point me to that?

If, as I suspect, this neither possible nor has been stated somewhere, please, add clear information about that in the docs.

Eclipse completion sluggish/broken

The code was left out intentionally. Since it takes a long time for the error to occur, I cannot afford to spend time on coding just to trigger that error, but need to be productive. Hence, the code is work-related.

But it's plain Java based on https://github.com/dhorions/boxable and https://pdfbox.apache.org/2.0/

Attached an anonymized log. Project I was working with is called "pdfbox-test". Project has been created with Eclipse's "New project -> New Maven project" wizard, simple, no archetypes. .project, classpath, .settings/*, pom.xml attached as well.

Since it took a rather long time for the issue tom occur again, the log a) is huge (~ 1000 lines) b) contains info about several projects and my system, which I am not willing to share (apparently SpringProcessConnectorService tries to connect to everything java? And other parts of STS read projects that have no relation to STS at all? Seems rather intrusive.).

How do I restart STS manually?

I have both https://download.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/sts4/update/e4.14 and https://download.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/sts4/update/latest enabled as update sites.

"Read data in SQL console" should not create dirty editor

On a table rmc -> "Read data in SQL console" opens an editor with the SQL query executed. Closing the editor w/o any change nevertheless prompts "Save changes in Script-XXX.sql?"

Since the editor's contents a) are automatically generated and thus always the same b) have not manually changed the prompt is unnecessary, and in respect to b) unjustified, and should not appear at all.
